Turf to surf

Yesterday was the first Surf and Turf Race, an eleven mile run around Rame Head and along the sand at Whitsand Bay. The start was at Maker above Kingsand, at the eastern tip of Cornwall, heading around the Rame Peninsula.

Then down onto Boiler beach at Whitsand, along the sand at low tide, imagearound the flag and back up the cliff.

You can see the blue tops going up the cliff if you look closely enough. When all runners had made it off the beach all that was left to see was the  impression of their shoes around the flag before the tide would come in and wash them away.

really enjoyed yesterday’s run !! Hard but challenging 😃 found the beach bit of the course the best bit as it was one if the only flat bits!! Coming off the beach the hardest bit climbing all those steps !! Couldn’t run that bit !! Nearly twisted my ankle several times as it was very muddy and slippery!! Still recommend it !! Only disappointment was there was no souvenir ie tech t-shirt or even a medal ?? No prize giving at the end?? I can’t find any results!! I know my time as i looked at my watch upon finishing but wouldn’t mind knowing my position especially as its age/sex graded ?? Thanks again enjoyed it 😃

Hi Laurence you had better check with the organisers as I was just on the beach at the time. Hope you got a good position.
