driftwood bench

We asked our friend Ben Fearnside to make a bed for the second bedroom, the room is an odd shape and we wanted to make the most of the space. When he turned up with Anita, his wife and their two dogs, in the back of his van was a beautiful driftwood bench; a gift for the chalet. The arms are fat enough to put your mug and plate on and it’s a perfect fit for 2.

At the moment it’s got some beach finds underneath but as the weather warms up those will get turned into ‘stuff’ for the Derek Jarman inspired gravel garden. Where the bench is placed gets the morning sun and is a lovely spot for that first coffee of the day.

The gravel garden is newly lain and only has a handful of plants at the moment but it’s surprising what is already pushing through. Over the months I will add pics to show the progress.

I like this bench as well

and for my wish list an outdoor shower except I’m kidding myself that the chalet is in Hawaii
